Why .R.E.D.?
For many years Ralph has worked in the field of sculpting and had a stand at the prestigious Covent Garden where he sold his artwork. This included a large range of both low profile and three-dimensional items, some of the most popular being dolphins, seahorses, suns and moons, as well as characters from children’s nursery rhymes or from the Disney films. Ralph has also produced work for celebrities such as a life-size bust for Terry Jones of Monty Python fame, as well as commissioned work by Christopher Lee and Ingrid Pitt from the World of Hammer Horror. The actor Steven Berkoff unveiled a life-size bust of Edgar Allan Poe created by Ralph, which is on permanent display outside the Fox Reform Club in London.

Why .R.E.D.?
Having worked in many different mediums Ralph has now turned his hand to the incredibly fun world of cake making.

The process Ralph follows is first and foremost a conversation with the client to discuss the theme of the cake, the size and flavours required and the date of completion.
Ralph is most interested and pleased if the client can supply photographs of the desired finish of the cake,
whether this is images taken from films or books, or possibly a cake they have seen they would like reproduced along the same lines.
The time frame will be dependent on the complexity of the cake which may involve carving of the sponge, covering with buttercream or fondant plus other techniques such as piping.
Sculpted fondant or possibly chocolate sculpting is used to work up the detail, finishing with hand painting using edible paints
where required to give an even more detailed and exciting finish.
All of this will result in the client receiving a unique cake handmade, start to finish, by Ralph’s Edible Designs.
